As a transplant to the New England, As the Crow Does not Fly is a representation of my initial observations about living in the area. My research spans from the prehistoric dinosaur footprints crossing the Valley I reside in to the contemporary military planes creeping across my peripheral vision throughout the day. I was interested in sharing how the natural features of the environment interacted with the layers of human history and its associated infrastructure. Moving here from the prairies and hills of the Midwest I was particularly interested in how the combination of the river and two mountain ranges changed how I moved through my environment. Structurally this book is a modified carousel format. The background is silkscreened and the pop-ups are hand cut paper. It exists in an edition of 13.
